Tras la gira promocional del disco "The Dark Ride", Grapow y Kusch fueron expulsados de la banda debido a diferencias musicales con Weikath. En 2002, estos ex-miembros formaron la banda Masterplan, editando algunos de sus temas descartados para "The Dark Ride", más nuevo material y la participación de Michael Kiske como cantante de sesión en Heroes. Los reemplazos para ellos en Helloween han sido encontrados en el guitarrista Sascha Gerstner, de la banda Freedom Call, con una fugaz y casi simbólica aparición en la banda del ex-baterista de Thamaritz Stephan Schlüter, el baterista Mark Cross de Metalium, quien, supuestamente debido a una grave y extraña enfermedad (mononucleosis), fue prontamente reemplazado por Stefan Schwarzmann, antes batería de Accept entre otros grupo

Para los fans, es uno de los mejores trabajos del grupo con Deris, por su variedad, sonido más potente y "oscuro".
